You know, the "Reimu's broke" jokes are usually funny & all, but this is just mean. For pity's sake, you'd think somebody would feed her! Yukari, Marisa, Sanae, somebody!
As others commented the worst part is how it actually happens in the real world. A small comfort is knowing that Reimu's situation is not this hopeless, but I know that does not help much.

It'd be an interesting story on whether or not this happens before Reimu becomes a Shrine Maiden.
If it's before, she was a normal yet poor girl living in the street of (relatively) modern days. If it's after then either she is already replaced and not a Hakurei shrine maiden anymore or Gensokyo is destroyed.
