Reference to a famous Matsuoka Shuuzou video in which he encourages the viewer to have strong roots that don't falter even in harsh weather, like rice. Then he compels the viewer to eat that rice.

A commemorative day established on this day because if you take apart the kanji for rice (米) you get 8(八) 10(十) 8(八)!
