Artist's commentary
Wakashumage is a hairstyle worn by boys before coming of age, characterized by having bangs (only the top of the head is shaved). Young men who engaged in homosexual activities continued to wear this topknot even when they reached the age of coming of age (around 15 years old). I'll do some research and draw a picture of the history of Edo wakashumage.
