Before seeing this very page, I didn't really liked DOS.
Howewer, now... I know he can do Heart Warming stuff. And I'm slowly liking him more and more.

Dos has always been that "pondering if want" kind of artist for me. He can be controversial (especially his yukkuri works are often quite DURR), but never in the "hey look, I'm drawing violent shit, am I cool yet?" way.

I understand what you mean. Unlike Depth Bomb, DOS isn't doing violent and guro just because he feel like it.
But still, I discovered him thanks to his yukkuri comics, and they are quite horrifying.
Free torture, mutilation, and Mind Break, mixed to his own art...

I wish he draw more Heart Warming comic, anyway.
