Judging from the conversation, it is Puzzle Fighter. Dan is the only character who sends out monochrome tile (Which will be red) as punishment. It makes him easily low-tiered since it is easy to clean up the tiles (And gives him a large stack of tiles to boot).
On the other hand, Devilot's tile is one of complicated one, being a total mirror of Gouki/Akuma's tile.

I remember beating people with Dan... I still pity them.
Devilot, watch out for counter gems which are not zero. Also, you might want to pack some crash gems to clear them.

This actually makes it funny because I always have 2-players both playing as Dan and having the crash gem value set to 0 (turning them to normal gems the instant they hit the board).
