I think it would be more difficult to take things from my back than from my chest, it doesn't seem like a good concept to me.

I really hate to be that guy since I don't have a problem with the redesign conceptually, but there's a damn good reason that back scabbards were historically very rare, especially for combat purposes. If you want to try it for yourself you can put on a backpack and put something with a long handle, or even just a stick, between your back and that of the pack, then try to draw it like that. It's a complete pain in the ass and often requires a lot of finagling with it to even get the object out.
