Actually, eating hot food in warm weather is good for thermoregulation. You perspire more => sweat vaporizes => your body cools down. Just doesn't work in extremely humid environment (sweat can't vaporize) or if you don't have anything to drink (dehydration doesn't help at all).

as you said, the problem of japan's weather is that pollution makes the environment extremely humid and in the mountains, valleys don't let the air become wind and the humidity is stuck.

But this is Gensokyo where there's little or no pollution so we can't say the same about them. Is it humid in the clean parts of Japan as well?

It tends to be humid anywhere near large bodies of water, and in mountain valleys.

There's no telling what Gensokyo's weather patterns are like..whether or not they're affected by the outside world, but it's a good bet that they're more or less separate from one another. That could mean that the weather in Gensokyo is essentially a closed system, which could cause a semiregular pattern of rain and sun, where the humidity keeps building until it rains, then the land cools, absorbs water, etc....starting the cycle over again.

Or it could just be an excuse to get Ran (and Koishi) naked.

Ah, thermoregulation. Always easier said than done when it comes to cross-culture explanations.

The problem with thermoregulation (as
OskarVanBruce noted) is that it heavily depends on your environment and terrain. Trying to explain that to a global audience can be difficult (my European friends think I'm crazy and my African friends just drink to stay hydrated, damn the science)
