However, I wonder why Japanese always persist on using "r" for "l"... Of course, in their eyes there isn´t any difference between this two consonants, but this is just suspicious. It is as if they just want to attend to the stereotype.

They do it because l doesn't exist in their language, which is the entire point of the stereotype that makes fun of it.

You'd think that when writing foreign words in a foreign alphabet they'd put more effort into getting it right though.
