They sure don't treat it like one, for a lot of these same sex artists it's either you take their pairings as law and their sexualities as fact or you might as well be the devil to them. And God help you if you're a straight shipper.

Honestly, I can imagine something like this in a darker setting, like something closer to Witcher or Drakengard, where getting magical power means you don't get to have heirs. And it translate as the wearer slowly turning homosexual, and any kids got before or adopted mysteriously dying or getting estranged.
