I'm no doctor, but if i remember right, Reimu is making it worst if she does have a fever here.

Hyperthermia usually helps to deal with the infection, but it also fucks up everything else, your body isn't built to work at higher temperatures. That's why antipyretics exist and your doctor isn't exactly happy when you have 39.7°. Also, if the fever was so useful in curing the diseases by itself, antibiotics and antivirotics wouldn't be the greatest invention of 20th century.

But thanks to those antibiotics/virotics, the bacteria and virus population become more resilient. Solid proof is, we use over 20 times the penicilin concentration, then when it was forst invented and used >.>

And even before, a good fever, and good health conditions could usually solve most "minor" ilnesses... And actually, most medicines only cure illnesses, that are otherwise cureable by your own immune system... And there actually are illnesses only the immune system can cure... (yeah, rare, but they exist)

They've become more resilient....to the antibiotics we give. And virotics don't exist. They are called antivirals..

More over, that is a ridiculous and untrue statistic. The same amount of penicilin kills the same diseases it did way back in 1920. The AMOUNT has no bearing on its disease curing ability. However, we can't use penicilin on a great number of bacterial infections anymore; this is true. Your statement was just ridiculous and untrue

More over, there is no such thing as a "good" fever; a fever can cure no ailments. All it does is speed up metabolic processes; it doesn't in any way damage bacteria, which are not fragile buggers. A fever helps the immune system mobilize, by allowing metabolic processes to run faster; it also kills you.

Furthermore, the statement that medicines only cure illnesses that your own immune system can cure is utterly retarded; every single antibiotic and antiviral is used specifically because bacterial and viral infections are dangerous and kill people even WITH healthy immune systems. Sepsis was a death sentence just 100 years ago. Now it is TRIVIAL to treat with IV antibiotics (including vancomycin, which can cure everything but VRSA).

Finally, there are zero illnesses that only the immune system can cure. In practice, we may not have discovered the appropriate drug treatment, but the immune system is merely a systematic treatment program. In the end, anything which can be cured, can be cured by small molecule medicine. It's only a matter of time.

Take your lack of knowledge and superstition elsewhere.

In the East when someone has a fever, it is made sure that person is kept warm. The only place cooled down is the forehead, and even that is optional.

Are you a doctor? Or are you just an informed individual?
If it's the latter, mind giving me a few sources? I met a few "vaccines make people autist and the great companies want you to take them" mothers, and I'd like to shut their trap with science.

It is pretty much useless to argue people with reason if they didn't get into their position with reason, so yeah.

    Interesting.
I heard that one of the most drastic mesure to treat out-of-control fever was an ice bath. The reaction of the person was often violent, but it seems it worked pretty well to save the person's life.

Something like that sounds good right now.

Granted. But if I give them enough scientific facts, if I keep saying that it's been proven, if I tell them that not vaccinating a child is like throwing it in the stairs, I may not convince them, but at least, they'll stop buggering me with their "I read it on the internet so it's true" and their "conspiracies from the big companies".
    I win in both cases.
