He just wanted screw asuka he never really liked her. Asuka just wanted shinji attention cause he the only loser she was force to be around whit most of the time.
and she had a thing for shinji when?…she had a thing for kaji and she settled. both settled.
In episode 9, Asuka calls the door separating her room from Shinji's "the unbreakable wall of Jericho," warning Shinji not to cross it. Considering that the biblical wall of Jericho actually did break, some interpreted it as Asuka subtly coming on to him and Shinji being too dense to get it. Though it's also possible that Asuka, or even the writers, didn't understand the reference either.
