According to the artist, the gun is called a Stahl M1858 (スタール m1858) but there doesn't seem to be a tag for that here. Also for some reason searching on google for the japanese name yields a bunch of results while the english one returns nothing relevant. Is it called something else in english or what?

It's a Starr 1858 double-action army revolver. Somewhat obscure gun unless one is well acquainted with the Civil War period. Or is a fan of Unforgiven, which is probably where most Japanese first came across this gun, with most replicas being sold in Japan mentioning the film.

I guessed as much of it being a black powder revolver.
