Artist probably meant "abyss" but tried to be artsy about it as with similar words in the the other pages. As for why abyss, it probably refers to how Venus Park's sole reason for existence is to race and win the l'Arc de Triomphe as the hope of France (NPC gamewise), and that she is at the bottom of a "hole" hence abyss, or "purgatory", basically within an abstract concept or complex situation, such as being in a game where players can reset the race up to 5 times a day using an item, or restart the whole training session altogether thus returning everything to square one.
