She died and then gets to exist for eternity as the Queen of the Dead, with a cute half-ghost servant, as much food as she can eat, and a really comfy outfit.

I fail to see how this is soul-crushingly depressing. Yuyuko ends up dead and loving it!

That's the thing, though. If you only know that Yuyuko is a ghost, and didn't know about the whole suicide backstory, this could be heart-rending.

She was best friends with yukari and she does not remember anying before becoming a ghost its more depressing from yukari's point of view

As I just read, she killed herself and then ended up in Gensoukyou as a ghost. Doesn't this mean she didn't even know Yukari before?

Also, anybody seeing the cherry petals formed on her dress by her own blood?

Although the Yukari knowing Yuyuko before death is fanon, it just makes so much sense... Blame the video 'When they first met.'

Given Yukari is pretty much Gensokyo's god, couldn't she have torn the youkai soul out of the tree and sent it packing straight to hell?

People forget that, as awesome as she is, Yukari isn't all powerful.

This is Yuyuko before she became a ghost. Her power to invoke death drove her to commit suicide.
