I seriously feel sorry for every girl in these books. Queen's Blade/Gate is so anti-action girl, it's depressing. You can tell whoever created this was probably rejected by one too many independent women and these are his vengeful fantasies that he's sharing with fellow ronery otaku. I can practically hear the artist encouraging the audience, "Yeah, teach that bitch a lesson! Slash up her clothes and make her cower at your feet! That'll make her think twice before trying to leave the kitchen again!"

I don't see how that's so since the game involves one player using one girl to fight another.

Sure, you have the option of doing that, but the way these books are drawn {viewer's perspective, looks like a rape fantasy more than it does a battle between two badass girls, etc} and marketed makes it clear what their main purpose really is.
