While I do agree with you in general, I have a hard time saying that about mosquitoes and locusts.

This is more than can be said for that one species of nematode that (exclusively) parasitizes humans, eventually blinding its victims. If that thing was made for any purpose, it could only have been as some sick bastard's idea of a joke.
