This isn't a new version of mermaid this is a monster girl called seabishop. a different one than mermaid.

Hmm, wonder what it's based off of. I'm familiar with many mythological creatures, but I'm drawing a blank for the sea bishop.

I have the impression it's based on a variation of the Sea Monk cryptid.

If that was the case...wouldn't she be a SQUID girl? The name did make me think of the "seamonk", but I'd heard that those were based on squid. Still...lovely picture regardless.

Sea bishops and sea monks may have been based on parts of squids, but the drawings made back then show a old man in fin-like robes and, and its likely Kenkou used that for inspiration rather than the creature that may have inspired the mythic creature.
