No she is making sure that Orin is not going to make a move... She is actually saving Nitori.

Because Orin's the most powerful one in that group, and she's only a stage 4 or 5 boss (she's stronger when close to her master, but they're not underground). It's the same reason they're just watching Keine and Mokou from the sidelines: messing with an EX boss and EX midboss would mean they got seriously caved, and not in a good way.
Chen might be able to get away with it, but more likely she'd still fail and Ran would just let her off without most of the punishment she'd dish out to the others.
Should this really be tagged as tail_rape ? Mokou is showing no visible traits of discontent, so tail_insertion seems more accurate. I'm removing the tag for now. Feel free to correct me.
