I'll read the stories if they involve characters I particularly like, or the short stories many characters have in their files...but that's about it. And any time Kal'tsit shows up I start slamming the skip button.
Seriously, I am at least 5 events behind on the story because I didn't have the time to read hours of impenetrable text, and now I can't even find the motivation to try catching up.
I just force myself to read the story as I play through an event/chapter, because knowing myself I won't go back to read it otherwise. Sure it's time-consuming and it means you progress slowly through an event, but at least that way the reading is broken up by gameplay stages.
Besides, outside of Chapter 8 and one or two specific events, I really don't think the amount of text is too egregious, even when Kal'tsit is involved.
