We have been using english honorifics for this series instead of original japanese, and I cannot think of a good word for "-chan"...

"the little Tengu" perhaps? Not accurate in terms of translation, but in the context of making Aya sound like someone who should have easily be defeated it might fit.

Isn't Ms. a shortening of Miss though? I think you are thinking o Mrs., which would have implied being married.

From Wikipedia:
