Gensokyo is abuzz because of the preparations for the annual ceremonies. It hasn’t been very long since Moriya Shrine appeared in Gensokyo, and it too is alight with activity. Sanae is putting her all into her preparations while Kanako and Suwako, who are known to enjoy festivals, are relatively lax about theirs. How strange!

It was Marisa’s spur-of-the-moment idea that led to the ensuing cooking battle at the banquet. Sanae is struggling to prepare food from the outside world. She goes to the Human Village and finds Kanako! What is she doing there? Sanae takes to the shadows and follows her to find out..

Kanako returns to Moriya Shrine and begins cooking with Suwako. They’re preparing the same food from the outside world as Sanae. Sanae sees the large amount of fried food and can’t hide her excitement, causing her to be discovered by Kanako and Suwako.

Kanako and Suwako didn’t seem all that interested when talk of the annual ceremony came up. So then, why did they prepare so much for it? After Sanae inquires about it, they confess everything. “It’s been so long since we arrived in Gensokyo that we’re coming to something of a turning point, a kind of birthday if you will!” And thus, the three of them began their birthday party. All of Sanae’s favorites were on the table.

With the room full of decorations, the popping of crackers signaled the beginning of the party. The three filled their mouths with food and reaffirmed their familial connections to one another. Their conversations during tea were certainly fun, or at least they looked that way. In truth, it was a meeting to go over amassing followers and the cooking battle at Hakurei Shrine. They are still as ambitious as ever.
