Is it preferable to have bad translation or no translation at all? And what set of tags (among translated request_translation and check_translation) should there be, I am not sure about any translation I made, but most are at least close to their meanings.

It's fine as long as you avoid guessing, IMO. Translate the parts you are reasonably sure about and leave the rest for someone else. translated and check_translation is fine.
