I get that Kukulkan is the Mayan god and not the Aztec one, but wasn't Xipetotec the one in charge of maize? Xipetotec was fond in Ndachjian-Tehuacán, that isn't Tenochtitlan, so I assume that Xipetotec was a local god that was adopted by the Aztecs. I mean, Xipe Totec is literally the god who flays himself, like maize, to feed mankind, so why Kukulkan here? Something I missed?
There are different myth versions. It's believed Mayan Kukulkan and Aztec/Olmec/Toltec Quetzalcoatl are the same deity like Greek Zeus and Roman Jupiter. Tezcatlipoca, Xipe Totec, Huitzilopochtli and Quetzalcoatl (the four Tezcatlipocas) share the same parents (Ometecuhtli and Omecihuatl). Xipe Totec is considered a god for gold, farming and spring time. Quetzalcoatl was the inventor of books, the calendar and giver of maize to mandkind.
