She was probably about to, before Ran called out to her. Look at that face of her in the middle panel: that looks like the face of anticipation, ready, waiting.

Hunger.

It kind of depends on the cat... One of my cats would eat a bug, but is too lazy to try. The other will happily hunt down any insect he finds, but just swats at it with his paw, and never knows what to do with it when he catches it, so he just lets it go, and chases after it again.
