    they ARE both fox pokemon

Vulpix is based on the Kyubi (think naruto)

while Zorua is based on Trickster foxes of legends

Kyuubi is not Naruto's invention. They are a standard part of Japanese folklore. You see, in Japanese folklore a fox wil gain an extra tail for every hundred years it lives, for a maximum of nine tails. These nine tailed foxes are called "kyuubi", and are what Naruto drew to create the nine-tailed fox. And are also what Nintendo drew on when creating both vulpix and ninetails. So actually, lolipiece is right-he was only giving an example.

    *facepalm*

sigh...I never said Naruto created the ninetailed fox

but using ninetales as a reference to it wouldnt make sense

especially cause I was just talking about it's pre-evolved form

    Okay, I have to know.

Why does everyone call it "Zorua" when the katakana says "Zoroa"? Which one is wrong?

because on the offical corocoro page

the name is seen in katakana

but next to it in english are words that say Zorua which is the correct romanization

Wasn't there an episode of pokemon that had a contest where pokemon were posing together is such a way that they looked like a different pokemon?

Like, I seem to remember a pair of kakuna posing as claws.
