Actually, if you've played the whole X series, you might notice that the whole gameplay started degrading after X4. Besides, X5 was supposed to be the last entry of X, but Capcom decided to once again fuck up the whole thing and create X6 without Inafune's permission, or without telling him at all...
Then there's the whole thing about changing X into a whiny pacifist, and replacing him with Axl and all.

Oh, I've started playing the whole X series at a good young age. X5 was suppose to be the last? I don't give two shits(excluding making X6 without permission, if that's true). I love playing them, that's all. What's wrong with Capcom's enthusiasm to continue a series to its fullest, like Street Fighter 4? That's what fans ask for. X7 was no different.
Just stick to what Capcom may provide in the future.

Same here. I did think 7 way unplayable, though eight was better(but not as good as 6, and that was the weakest of the 2D games). Now, the Zero series was awesome. ZX is at first blush not as good as the Zero series, but it has some interesting ideas in there and is a good series all around. I just hope it deosn't go the way of megaman legends(in which, although a good game series, suffered from mostly bland bosses) and not release anymore games in the series, even though ending on a cliffhanger(mild in legend's case, but dire and obviously screaming "sequel" in ZX adent's case). ... That was a bit of an outburst there... Um, go Marisa?
If gameplay was all you cared about, then i feel Capcom could have done better to end the series when it was supposed and just start a new series of games with the exact same gameplay but with a different protagonist. I always feel story comes before everything else, so give it its "the end" and then just go start off with a different character.

Since you said "IF," I never said I cared about the gameplay. I care about the story as much as anyone else. X7 is done with, so it's not worth talking about. But Capcom still continued with X8 and Command Mission, putting an end to the whole "Sigma" thing and bringing up a whole new story. Not that I can justify whether or not the series should continue to a closure with an X9, but I still believe Capcom should have a good reason for the megaman series to evolve.
You bring up a good point, but i want to believe the X series doesnt become like DBZ. Where Toriyama was forced to continue on with his work regardless of whether the story was already done. As said before, the X series wasnt supposed to go past 5. As someone who also works in the industry, i cant stand it when a fellow writer already has the end of his story planned out and then either is forced to continue on, or a continuation of the story was made without his or her permission. DBGT is different in that permission was given for it to be made and its already declared not canon. But DBZ itself went past what was the intended ending for the series.
I wouldnt have any problem with all the X games that were made past 5 if the series itself wasnt supposed to have a story in the first place. for instance, take Mario or Zelda. Every Link is different anyway, so ofcourse there would be much for continuation and then Mario, what story? But when the series started pulling Jesus Zero, thats when i called bullshit. At very least though, i dont mind the Zero series, since thats on a totally different time-line.
