Gavial IS a Rhodes certified doctor/healer. She has the very rare aptitude for healing arts because of her race (archosauria) was known for their brute strength. She opted to become a doctor to help other people that's gotten ostracized because of Oripathy, as she saw her past in them.

I will point out, in Gavial's case, the "infected oppression" she experienced was everyone babying her and treating her like an invalid, which pissed her off. She was beloved by everyone in her hometown, even after contracting oripathy. They don't even know what the disease is.

Her "ostracization" also had nothing to do with her wanting to be a physician; when she realized she had a talent for healing arts, she decided she would save lives instead of ending them. There's nothing else to it.

Just because you're established doesn't mean you can't still learn from your elder, especially when both of them have hundreds, if not thousands of years more experience than you
