I translated some sentences that looks important. I have no Painter and I draw rarely, so I don't know about those drawing-skills or Painter menus etc. and I cannot translate other sentences. (8) and (9) explains about drawing tips for colored-dodge(I also dunno if this is right translation) brush just created.

In fact, if you want to achieve the same effect with Photoshop, all you need to do is set your Brush Mode (which is set to 'normal' by default) to 'color dodge'.

You can do this by choosing any type of brush and accessing the 'Option Bar' located at the top of the screen. Find the dropdown menu for the brush mode and set it to 'color dodge'.

    Nowadays-
    In fact, it's nothing special. -,.-;
    Let's make a Color Dodge!
I've been getting many requests for explanation of how to do the highlights and clear light on these art.. So this is a tutorial on how to create these brushes.
Then the copy of firebrush will be created. See "Brush Controls" window, there is 'general' tab. Open 'Dab type', and change 'Captured' to 'Circular', and also adjust 'Jitter' of 'Random' tab to 0. Easy, eh? ^^
And now you have a colored-dodge brush.
The brush below is Painter's basic default dodge brush. (In the 6.1, it's in the photobrush section.)
If you want to add color and also have the 'glow up' texture of a dodge brush, let's first pull out 'Fire' brush from 'F/X' brush tools.
But the fire brush has the shape of a fire, so it's usefulness is really limited.
The shapes of fire brush (dab type)
What ever color you want~ Make it bright and shiny~
This brush basically brightens up the base color. The more you go to a brighter color from a darker one, the more it shines. One tip would be
If you want to focus on the color more then brightness, You should choose the color in this area.
To make it useful: You need a new brush, so select 'Brush'-'New Brush'.
    Dodge
But the tool 'dodge' does not mix in with the colors, and it only makes it brighter. This makes it basically just a soft eraser.
If you want more brightness then color, then You should select the colors in this area.
    Uh, I write neat, right?
I am using Painter version 6.1. The more recent versions do not have any difference.
Finally, color dodge choses only very bright colors, so rather then brightening it in one area, you should rub around the black area. Also, if you cover the whole art with it, or fix it up too much after finishing a art, the digital effects would be too much and it would only make it less pleasing to the eye. When I finish, I usually do it in a designated area or make a simple light source point at the start of creating art. So rather then using it after finishing the art, you should use different colors in the start to 'break' the usual colors. Use it when making the final touch after finishing an art. Have fun drawing~
