Being able to turn however far destination you'd want to go to into as close as 1 step is as good as teleportation.

True, though we dont exactly know the limitations of it. Goku actually tells us how his teleport work. For instance, Ya the river's distance is shortened based on her mood. But the distance is also based on how evil/good the dead person was. Either Komachi is a mind reader or her power kicks in itself when shes on the job. And if a person has been really evil, the river will "never end" and Komachi will eventually kick the poor sap out. As far as teleportation goes, its kinda weird that Komachi would have a "speed" setting on it, if we call it "teleport" anyway. If she wanted to, she could make a 10 minute walk to the post office last a whole day.

Which affects her mood. The more money you give Komachi, the better the mood she is in, and thus, shortening the river. You seem to have gotten the money thing confused. Having money itself does not shorten the river at all, its the act of giving tribute to Komachi that makes the river shorter.

Also, just thought i'd add. If a person was especially virtious in their life. The river would be really short, and having money wouldnt really matter since that person was disignated for heaven anyway.

All this talk about the river shortening reminds me about the youtube video where Reimu dies, but Komachi got paid so much the river disappeared.
