In the starting page, it shows the blob has a Ditto face
Grimer and Muk are well....more mucky, hard to see thought while this shows the purple blob is obviously semitransparent.

This is what happens when you leave your ditto at the breeder to be a fucktoy for all your pokemon. Which is pretty much what everyone does, so I guess this sort of thing isn't all that uncommon.

I would almsot say genetics but the fact that it can breed with anything just shoves that one up the shitter. I have no idea about how Pokemon breeding works in actuality with some Pokemon, like Ditto and Kelcleon(or however you spell it) which don't really follow any sort of pattern except...
