Actually that would be sad in the long run. Ran will die and you will have to watch her die. Then your have to stick around Mokou/Kaguya for company. Instead of the Horai elixer, just have Yukari Shikigami-fy you.

I don't think Ran CAN die of old age, since she eventually becomes one step close to divinity. By that, I'd assume that she's essentially ageless based on the fact that she'd have to live a LONG time to get there.

ofcourse, that assumption is invalid in alot of ways. Your comparing Ran to a god. What other gods do we know of...oh right, Kanako and Suwako. yet they ran here to gensokyo because they were afraid of DYING. You could say the same for Yukari as well since we're talking about Ran here. Excluding the immortals, Yukari is the oldest LIVING character we have.(not including dead people). Sure, we can assume Ran might live for another century or 2. But as it stands, Mokou and Kaguya by canon will outlive the entire cast. Even if its going to take centuries for some members to die off.

those two gods ran here because there wasn't much faith coming from the outside world, in contrast, the combination of the high amount of faith in Gensokyo, general faith levels in Tenkos, and being Yukari's shikigami means that Ran isn't going to kick the bucket any time soon.

and the oldest character I think is Tewi (Eirin is unknown in terms of immortality or not)

I may be mistaken, but the Youkai predisposition to eating people might be a Touhou thing. They weren't quite as vicious on a general basis in traditional folklore.

No, its always been like that. to make a bad example, the anime Inuyasha. Its just that, unlike Touhou, Demon hunters were actually to be feared. So it kept most demons at bay where they actually stated eating each other. Also, a good portion of Demons actually dont eat the "Flesh" of humans. but feed on their souls. Also you had some herbavoire demons.

Ah, that might be it. Youkai were actually killed in the folklore, while in Gensoyko, their murderering ways go unchecked.

I don't recall kitsune being one of the types that eats humans so that's not an issue here.

2. Just become a youkai

yup kitsune usually are mischeivous and do prasnks rarely kill if ever and if they owe you a favor they "stick to you like a guardian god"as they say
