not to mention, the manga stays fresh by alternating main characters per few volumes. Instead all we get is Ash Ash Ash(Satoshi). Changing his little girl sidekick doesnt do jack. And Brock is a sad sap. The gym leaders are so much cooler in the manga as well. As much as i like red, i like how it went to Yellow and then to Gold,etc.

I've always said that the anime should've only used Ash through Johto, tops. Preferably sending him away after the Orange Island filler. Maybe they could've had an older version of him show up as a guest star later on, but aside from that let somebody new take the spotlight.
