Kyon-chan tried to pull the "I am John Smith" card, but Haruhi's disbelief caused another, male Kyon to appear so that both Kyon-chan and "John Smith" could exist at the same time. In the last color panel, Kyon-kun declares that he's a Slider (which is what a lot of folks though Kyon was from the start, really...)
That... would explain a lot of things, actually. I'm convinced he's still a (relatively) normal human in the canon work, but for the sake of this comic, it's neat.
The author also makes use of the speculation that Kyon might somehow be a reflection of Haruhi, or vice-versa. In the pages of the printed doujin that aren't included on the author's site, after Mikuru and Koizumi were genderswapped, Kyon-chan reflects that their faces really didn't change all that much, while she bears little resemblance to her old self. She wonders who 'she' must be, and comes to the realization that she bears a shocking resemblance to Haruhi - thus, Kyon-kun's reaction on the next page (he initially thinks he's seeing two Haruhis). I'll try and add the extra pages of the doujin to the pool sometime soon...
Seconded. Discovered rokudena-shi's work from the pool that got uploaded yesterday, and loving it. Having the translation die out at this point is torture.
THIS right here is the main reason I dont like Haruhi, she just wraps reality for her own convenience, granted, she doesnt know she has that power and prolly dont make it on propose, but that doesnt stop the fact she is doing it
