You know, I bet if someone was really determined, and had lots of free time to waste looking at anime pictures, they could probably find supposed among us eyes (meme) which predate the game. It's not a terribly large number of independent variables that would have to coincide: a large iris, an oval eyeshine in one spot and at least one teardrop in another spot.
