Beautiful and ingenious, but unbelievably impracticable.

Any injury or sickness would stop one from retiring to bed for comfort and rest; whilst if the ladder failed whilst one was up there one would be marooned.

Personally, I would never sleep well on such an unsupported ledge, without even stays or props of any kind.
