Not just chafing, but chainmail armor with no leather underneath was prone to be hit by a weapon and pushed into the skin so hard it could puncture it and be tangled inside. Not good.

People actually thinking of the comfort of the girl in the impractical clothing? Well, I never! There's a lot of art with clothing designs that irk the shit out of me as a woman but what can you do about it when it's fictional...

Keris don't go to this size. Usually the curvy ones are shortsword-length at the very largest (13-curved Javanese ones comes to mind, the straight variants tend to be longer though), and most are daggers. Ornamental daggers, even. There's even an adage by my friend that a Keris isn't meant to be used to parry... it's much better on delivering coup-de-grace. Also, curvy swords like that wouldn't cut well and would be quite a female dog to pull out after you stab someone.
