I thought Kanako could spawn snakes?...not Suwako

This is a reference to one of Suwako's spellcards in SWR. She's probably being helped by Kanako there.

so thats the reference? Dang, i've read too much doujins. Theres one doujin i read where Yukari summons up a giant snake (think gaps) to train Youmu with. Thats what I immediatly thought upon looking at the thumbnail.

Not exactly. Those are the Mishaguji. They're the Curse Gods Suwako tamed when she was establishing herself as a God. They are why she can use curses and she can even call on them any time she wants. They have nothing to do with Kanako.
