As hideous as the average modern American street, yet the execution is astounding.

Hideous? I quite like it. Although there's something about cluttered urban environments I like, so maybe it's bias at play.

Why even make the comparison to America specifically? Lots of places in Japan, and many modern cities in many countries, look exactly like this. Though I'm pretty sure American streets aren't covered wall to wall in advertisements like this.
