It's all about the timing, half the time they people say its undodgable, they're panic dodging.

But still her AoE move is quite long and if you fail the dogde can one shot you with bad builds

I do have respect for this man for the accomplishment, but I am also not THAT surprised by it happening. I knew someone would eventually pull a flawless against Malenia, because the Souls community is known for having people "No Hit" bosses before. Still, the man did something amazing and I fully respect him for the patience and focus he displayed in that fight.

I still wish it was a bit more reliable to dodge at close range when she jumps just after you started an attack. That "walking in circles under her" feels more like tricking the AI instead of a "real" dodge.

The problem is that you have little to no indication of when to dodge and where to. It's just another awfully designed fight, like so many others that Fromsoft has made and recycled from years past. Examples: Bed of Chaos, Stupid Dog, Jabba the Hutt, Throne W&D, Nashandra, Aldia, Naked Rat King, Wolnir, Ancient Wyvern, just to name a few. There's many more bosses with either poor design or that were copy-pasted. Yhorm is another one, which is just the Storm King from DeS and also Rykard in ER. Rykard is especially embarrassing for having his kryptonite right where you enter the boss arena. They're all shit/poorly designed fights, but because people are brain-dead they'll find excuses or outright declare them "alright/good" fights, usually followed by the initially sarcastic phrase "git gud", which has lots its original meaning over the years.

Also FYI, I brute-forced Malenia. Tag teamed her with my mimic and just stunlocked her pathetic ass. If you can cheese a fight by abusing poor poise and literally button mash your way through it, it's not good, sorry. Fromsoft can't help themselves but to remake the same game over and over, except worse. ER is a very mediocre game with objectively bad online, PvP balancing and a worse PvE experience as well, due to removed features or mechanics.

Really love the irony that almost all the bosses he listed as being shit are from DkS2, the safest Souls game to shit on, made by a different team led by a different director. Though going by his name, I'd imagine if asked for a full list of shitty bosses, DkS1 bosses would be mostly absent.

He is right about ER having garbage PvP and matchmaking, but that's a staple of the Fromsoft library. DkS1 pioneered ganking and twinking, and the Remaster actually managed to make it worse.
