  • NT Index v03 192-193

Original art by Kiyotaka Haimura from the 3rd Shinyaku Toaru Majutsu no Index Light Novel.

I do not claim this artwork as my own.

    Lore:
As part of GREMLIN's plan to use the volcano of Kilauea as a furnace for Othinus' cryptic plans. GREMLIN uses the Trigger to induce an artificial eruption of Kilauea, though not in the ordinary way, as you can see plumes of hot ash instead tons of lava spew from the Kilauea, which is the norm for the volcano.

    About the work:
It is a colorjob out of a whim once again. Still hot off the heels of the release of NT4, I decided to color this complex illustration (respect for Haimura) of the eruption of Kilauea. Haimura's background work has improved since the days of yore, now using more than just plain black and white colors, but as well as a whole lot shades of gray. Furthermore, this is one of the rare instances that he does not simply make a background out of vauge splotches of black and white shape, something like a trick of the illustrator to make the focus of the illustration be on the characters. Here, it is in full detail.

Learned something new here thanks to Mike Inel. Took a few days to finish.
