I was going to ask if she was related to Maru-yu in anyway, since name and all that, but she's an escort carrier so probably no. But if she has below Fusou level luck, then she and Maru-yu could definitely be great friends.

• Laid down in July 1944 as an oil tanker
• Acquired by the IJA and hastily converted into an escort carrier
• Completed in January 1945, with plans to rebuild it again as a cargo ship
• Sunk by air attack in February 1945, in port, without ever seeing combat

Still doesn't seem to be THAT bad, compared to the Fusou sisters who were deemed the worse ship assignments by the unfortunate sailors. I think being a ship that was in service and being fucked badly during combat because of malfunction is way worse, something along the line of Taihou. Although I guess it's still pretty unlucky, yeh.

Her stats are... wow. Yamashio Maru kai is weaker in many stats than Gambier Bay kai.

Seems fitting given that historically she was only a step above British MAC ships and thus was noticeably slower, less armed, and carried significantly less aircraft (8 vs 27) than Casblanca-class CVEs.

KC staff twitter account confirmed her to be the first shipgirl drawn by a fairy&equipment artist called 海原さかな.

Taihou,incomplete,sunk en route for final fittings = 2.
1 = Just slid off the ramp and sunk immediately or still on the ramp.
0 = Destroyed whilst still in drydock,not read to wet.
