Japanese postboxes seem very cute if, as with this, they are shaped like an American fire hydrant. Most recent Western ones look like flat metal boxes to look 'modern' [ modern in 1965 ] and boring.

There aren't a lot of them around, but you can still find the old ones which look like that.
