Well, Narutaru is basically a huge deconstruction of Pokemon if you think about.

Granted, it wasn't done particularly well.

Only in appearance. There was none of the "collection" aesthetic which is so crucial to the whole Pokemon thing. It's more like Digimon in that respect.

Even then, what little of that there seemed to be disappeared pretty quickly.
