Technically it’s accurate.

Edit: Would maggot treatment be an effective way to help with the gangrenous extremities? Or is the size of the affected areas too great? It was above the elbow on both arms, one leg was up to mid thigh, and the other was below the knee. (And that was at the start of the series.)

That is assuming there's a creature in that world that shares maggot's dietary restrictions aka scavenger that only eat rotten parts and leaves the healthy part alone.
