It feels strange to reminisce on how many doujin sites I used to frequent.

Blogs devoted to a single series or fetish.
Infrequent releases.
Drama about different groups translating the same doujin.

Loading up Newgrounds to read Bondage Fairies in Flash.

I even found a backwater Japanese site once, full of works from the mid-1990s.

Made money as a typesetter/proofreader for a while.

In a way, I miss those times.
There's something different and wrong about how much new content there is on the *hentai sites now.
Everything gets 5 stars.
No release feels special.

well said. especially with NHentai. EVERYONE uses them codes. I feel like no only those really deep(or have been in there for a very long time) into the H hole that actually remember the names of circles, the specific books/artist CG/game companies.(Akiko-san Issho anyone?)
if I had time, I'd make that big brain meme format about the doujin scenes.

Pretty sure that is the actual intention of the story. But many disgree with me, so I can't say for sure.

AFAIK these elements from Christianity were taken for exoticism value.
