Do we know for sure they are female at this point?
Hololive is sold as an all-female vtuber group with Holostars as the male counterpart. It'd be a pretty massive shakeup for Omega to be male AND under the Hololive label, so I'd say it's safe to assume they're female unless otherwise stated (which I highly doubt will happen)
I personally think that Omega is the Public producer/manager of Holo Council + IRyS rather then an actual new member / Vsinger. Kinda like how Daidou Shinove is for Holostars
You know, it's bad enough when a series like Pokémon, Dragon Ball Z, or Sword Art Online gives a character an extremely elaborate skill set and backstory that ends up having very little relevance to the plot, when they could've put more effort into the character's personality and their interactions with others.
I really, really hope Hololive isn't headed down that same path.
Unpooling from Wow That Was Fast -- this is official art, while the pool is for fanart.
Full disclosure - I was the first to pool this pic, because at first sight I thought it was fanart; but I unpooled it when I realized my mistake. (But I was not the second one to pool this picture)

I mean, has Vtuber, any for that matter, ever stuck to their backstory/lore for long before being comfortable enough with their audiences and break out their usual personality?
Even for previous gen and Jp gens, their lore/backstory are only occasionally recalled, some even once in passing, but nobody has any grime about that so not sure what you're worried about.

Evidently the producer is pushing this idea of a metaverse, I don't think its going to work out since aside from Luna, I don't think there's a case of an assigned character gimmick lasting more than a few streams. I understand Pekora has Peko, but a verbal tic and an entire character schtick are two different ballgames.

Day to day not really, though some things like songs may make nods, though what happens instead is the vtuber proceeds to make her own lore which she sticks to, Amelia and Haachama are the two big examples
Out of the current 5, I see Baelz managing hers the most due to "Chaos" while I feel Kronii's going to go down the Calli route of hamfistedly "maintaining" character. Sana and her hobbies may better maintain her character while I feel Fauna's yandereness is going to gain more ground. Mumei's general character is also easy to maintain/believably shift.
So no one is going to say anything in regards to a certain similar looking character also coming out that’s been advertises like crazy by the company? Alright then.

The point is to give meat for a fan-based mythology.

The lore is to create hype. I doubt it will affect their personality and interaction that much. I just wish that they would be more open to collab with vtuber outside of Hololive.
The last few tweet confirmed she's Hololive EN equivalent of A-chan. They also confirmed that the 1other tag is good, since she said "He/She/It/They anything. It does not matter.". So use whatever pronoun you prefer, since everything is cool, but keep the 1other tag on this one.
