Coined so he can talk about religion using biology/genetics terms and analogies. So... the first thing ever described as a meme in human history? It's religion.

Meme is quite a strange word. Its etymology comes from a mixture of two words; mimēma (latin) and gene (english), and the basic meaning is 'the passage of something through imitation, of which it proliferates and mutates.' The first 'meme' was undoubtly, religion, but it was not the religion that we know of. It's something much simpler, on the Stone Age level of praying to some unknown, invisible deity. One man doing it, other people mimicked; lo and behold, a cult was formed. It also still stands true on the current religions: one people starts praying, kids imitates them, lo and behold they become interested and converted; in that way, the faith proliferates, yet in the process there's undoubtly some information that gets altered or not passed correctly, so we got sects and divisions even within one faith.
I uh, will be (asking for permission for) removing this from the pool, i assume that this pool is for the "official little nun story". I mean, it's from diva, but it is also from their 2nd twitter which states that stuff there doesn't have any relation to the official, which is why we have little nuns (diva) copyright tag for these
