The sparring partner in turn became corrupted by their one sided rivalry, obsessed with gaining her recognition, and ultimately killing her.
They could have very easily made it so that the sparring partner was in fact her younger sister, but they chose not.

so let me get this straight. first they worked to retcon okto giving her a complex, and then they decided to retcon her into being exactly like how they decided to claim he is. so basically they're trying to make a very popular, goodnatured-but-damaged character into an asshole. сукаgames just can't help themselves with trying to ruin anything they have, can they.
