This page, which is older (judging by the artstyle and being monochrome), shows that their marriage wasn't a big deal and more of a necessity for her powerup. They still act quite distant even after getting married. Then came the flashback arc full of fluff and drama, showing them already behaving like a married couple before actually getting married.
