I find it funny that for being stronger than androids 17 and 18. He has an actual device for shooting off his own limbs. Now i'm no scientist, but if i was one. If i ever built a robot for the purpose of fighting. I would never design it with shoot-able limbs. It just seems too have to many downsides.

Gensoukyou is not the only place where common sense is unnecessary.

To be fair, 16 was an expert at recovering his hand after using that move. He only ever used it when the opponent wouldn't have seen it coming too.

Maybe Dr Gero was just a fan of super robot shows.
